Favorite Destination:
"Hawai'i.. I miss living there. I miss the island ways
and the dialect. It took me years to stop saying 'yah'
at the end of my sentences, mostly because I didn't
want to stop. It was the one place on this planet where
I felt I truly belonged; where I fit in. I embraced the culture
with open arms and without imposing myself or my past.
That's where a lot of Haole's (mainlanders) go wrong, trying to
force their own ways upon the land and the people. They forget
that the main reason they went there was to get away from
all that."
Personal Note:
My background, besides being a
descendant of Lord George Gordon Byron,
includes a strong influence from having Cherokee blood in my veins.
I've found that while my writing, shooting, articulation and eccentricities may
have
come from Lord Byron, my approach to other human beings and animals is
definitely the Cherokee influence coming through.
As far as religion is concerned, I take from a variety of them and put together
what works for me, and that has become my way of life.
Like many writers and actors, I'm basically shy, and value my privacy.
Allowing
someone to read what I have written is like laying my heart open - it's a
vulnerable
feeling that leaves me wanting an honest reaction while scared to death that the
piece won't
leave the person with the impression I worked so hard to convey.
On the other hand, what keeps me going is being true to myself. You really need
to do what is right for yourself, in spite of the nay-sayers. Go for your
dreams,
and tell anyone who isn't on the same wavelength to get out of your way, because
you
have goals to accomplish.
